spore — mushroom identifier & field guide

terms of use

effective october 1, 2026 · tinkersmithstudio

Safety disclaimer — please read. Spore is an educational tool. It is not a safety test, a medical device or a substitute for an expert. Identifications are produced by automated image analysis and can be wrong, including for deadly species that closely resemble edible ones. Never eat, touch to your mouth, or give anyone a wild mushroom based on Spore. Always confirm with a qualified local expert. If you suspect poisoning, contact your local emergency number or poison centre immediately.

1. acceptance

By downloading, subscribing to, or using Spore, you agree to these terms. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies and controls if it conflicts with these terms.

2. license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Spore on devices you own or control, under the applicable App Store terms.

3. what spore does — and doesn't

You are solely responsible for any decision to collect, handle, prepare or consume any mushroom.

4. free features & spore premium

Spore includes a limited number of free identifications and expert questions each day. Spore Premium removes those limits and unlocks the premium features shown in the app. Features and limits may change as the app improves.

5. auto-renewable subscriptions

Spore Premium is offered as monthly and yearly auto-renewable subscriptions. The price and billing period shown on the purchase screen are the ones that apply to you; prices vary by country, currency and tax.

6. availability

Identification, Expert and search features need an internet connection and rely on third-party services. They may be slow, limited or unavailable at times, and daily limits apply to free use.

7. third-party content

Field-guide photographs come from GBIF and Mushroom Observer contributors and are shown under their licences (such as CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA) with attribution. Those photographs belong to their authors. See Safety & Sources.

8. your content

You keep all rights to your photos and notes. You give us permission to process the photos and text you submit only to provide the feature you asked for, as described in the privacy policy. Only submit photos you have the right to use, and don't submit images of people or private information.

9. acceptable use

Don't misuse the service: no automated or bulk requests, no attempts to bypass limits or security, no reverse engineering, reselling, or unlawful use.

10. disclaimer of warranty

Spore is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including accuracy of identifications, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, tinkersmithstudio is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any injury, illness or loss arising from the collection, handling or consumption of mushrooms or from reliance on the app.

12. changes

We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this page with its effective date. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
