Pinch Support

Help with logging food, your daily sodium number, where the estimates come from, backups, and privacy.

Contact support

Email us with your question and the iPhone model and iOS version you are using. If a specific food looks wrong, tell us the food name and the figure Pinch showed — that is usually enough for us to reproduce it.

Logging food

Search for a food, pick a portion, and Pinch adds its sodium to today's number — that is the whole loop, and it is meant to take about three seconds. To correct an entry, tap it in today's list and edit the portion, or swipe to remove it.

Your daily number and the salt coach

Your day is a single sodium figure counting down against your target. The coach flags a food before you commit to it when the portion will not fit what is left. If your target looks wrong, change it in Settings — the default follows general adult guidance and is not personalised to you.

Where the sodium numbers come from

Sodium figures are estimates drawn from food composition data and manufacturer labels. Real portions vary, recipes change, and restaurant food varies most of all. Treat the number as a good working estimate, not a laboratory measurement. Where a packaged food is in front of you, the label on the packet is more accurate than any database.

Streaks

Streaks count days you stayed inside your target. Missing a day ends that streak, but nothing is deleted and your history stays intact — the app is meant to inform you, not scold you.

Purchases

Pinch is free. There is no subscription, no unlock, and no advertising, so there is nothing to restore or cancel. If you are ever prompted to pay for Pinch, it did not come from us.

Backup and privacy

Your food log is stored on your device. There is no account and no cloud sync. You can export a backup when you choose and import it later — do that before changing phones, because we hold no copy to restore from. For the full detail, read the Pinch Privacy Policy, and see Sources for where the nutrition data comes from.

Health information

Pinch is a self-tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it does not set a sodium target for your particular health situation. If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart failure, or any condition where sodium intake matters clinically, follow the target your doctor or dietitian gives you rather than the app default.
